Bio

I was born and raised in southern California and upon graduating high school, moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah on a volleyball scholarship.  While an undergraduate student I substituted in grades K-12 to get some teaching experience and make sure I was in the right major.

After receiving my teaching certificate, I stayed in Utah to teach for 6 years at Stansbury Elementary, a Title I school.  During that time I earned my ELL endorsement so that I could better meet the needs of my students. I was also our 6th grade team leader and initiated teaming on our grade level where I taught science and language arts.

In 2003, I moved back to Southern California to teach in a middle school (grades 6-8).  I taught astronomy and earth science and a language arts section. During my 6 years at Castaic Middle School I was on the gifted and talented team and attended several CAG (California Association for the Gifted) conferences and training sessions. I was also on the district science curriculum and textbook adoption committee; I enjoy being a part of change and progress wherever I work.

In 2009, I moved back to Salt Lake City where taught for 4 years utilizing my ELL endorsement.  Because of my passion for science, I worked with the other teachers on my grade level to create an effective teaming and rotation schedule that included RTI for both math and reading.

I have taught for more than 19 years in Utah, California and most recently, Georgia, where I have taught the past two years.  I look forward to using my teaching experience to help me be an effective and contributing teacher for the Carroll County School System.
